Internet marketing rewards consistency more than just about anything else. It’s not enough to have a blog or send articles; you have to make a LOT of blog posts and write a LOT of articles.
The notion of “critical mass” appears in many areas of life. I once knew a pharacist who taught me the term “sub-therapeutic dose.” That means you don’t take enough of a drug to make a difference. Malcolm Gladwell introduced the term “tipping point” to the reading public. And on the Internet, we need to think of MIL: Minimum Impact Level. (How’s that for a new term?)
Here’s my 5-Step MIL Visibility Program:
- Blog 3 to 5 times each week.
- Write articles 2 times each week. (You can just modify your blog posts to reinforce your message.)
- Facebook: Invite 5 to 10 Friends a week.
- Twitter: 3 informative posts a day (plus promo and friend posts).
- Forums: Join 2-3 forums in your market. Choose active forums and contribute ideas, not sales pitches.
I go into a lot more detail (including the 3 types of blog posts and the ratio to use each) in my Social Marketing Power product.

Nice article. Point well made re: critical mass. You need consistency in your approach to producing fresh dynamic and rich content. You will drop off the radar if you don’t update regularly and systematically.
