For the last year or so, I’ve been holding teleseminars – the Cat Chats – nearly every Thursday morning. People often ask me, “Is it worth doing?” and, “How do you manage to hold a call every week? Isn’t it exhausting?”
The truth is, “Yes and no.” Yes it is worthwhile. No it’s not exhausting. Here are answers to three FAQs.
Q1: What are the benefits of holding teleseminars?
A1: Too many to list! It’s gratifying when I meet people who greet me with, “I know you! I’ve been on the Cat Chats.” More tangible benefits:
Getting clients: Sometimes I get a client was on a call as long as six months ago. Teleseminars can be more memorable than downloadable Reports or even (I’ve found) a short get-acquainted call. The reason is, you stay together longer and you cover more ground.
Clients get to hear your voice when you sound relaxed. They get a sense of who you are. You get to showcase your expertise in a low-key way and also take the first steps to the know-like-trust sequence.
Creating info products: A call can become an info product on its own. However, just the experience of delivering info and interacting with audiences will help you get ideas for new products.
You also learn to fine-tune your content. Somehow things sound different when you say them to a live audience.
Q2: How does copywriting help you create teleseminars?
A2: You need copywriting to promote your teleseminar, deliver the content and follow up. A teleseminar promotion page typically will be a short landing page.
Often clients want to know what words to use. They want to know what phrases have been found to be effective. Those are good questions, but even more important, you need a content creation system to create landing pages fast and quickly. You need a system to outline your content.
Think “plug and play” as a metaphor for writing your teleseminar promotional copy.
Q3: So…should everyone jump on the teleseminar bandwagon?
Not necessarily. I firmly believe that you should run away when someone says, “You *must* use this technique (or hire this resource) or your business will fail.”
I do believe that
– You need to identify *some* techniques that leverage your natural talents so you stand out from the pack. You need to master those techniques and invest in getting better.
– Nearly everything on the Internet requires copywriting, hiring a copywriter and/or learning the role of copywriting to achieve success for the strategies you choose.
– You can test yourself by dipping a toe into the water before taking a big plunge. Identify some low-cost, easily accessible ways to test a handful of techniques. Some will resonate and will seem easy – even fun. Sometimes you will feel that you are fighting your own nature.
