Social Media: Sneaky ways to sabotage your own Twitter Posts

Recently I saw some interesting looking posts on Twitter, so I clicked through. I really hoped to get better acquainted with the person behind the Tweets.

One Tweet sounded promising. To achieve a certain type of success, develop self-awareness.

Hmm….I’m interested! But instead of sending me to a blog post or article, the Tweet sent me to a very sales-y home page of a website. A good reason to begin your social marketing with the web site marketing basics.

What to do instead? Send readers to an article or blog post. In my opinion, it’s perfectly okay to add a link to a product or service for sale (like I’m about to do now) as long as you also provide solid stand-alone information. Teasing doesn’t count.

Even better, you can set the URL in your bio to send readers to a special page you created for your Twitter followers. That page summarizes who you are, what you offer, where your blogs are located. your other social media accounts, and a lot more. I share the details in my course, Copywriting for Social Marketing. You can learn more here.
